Accreditation Notes: Initial accreditation denied. Rationale: After reviewing all relevant documents, including the school’s written response to the on-site evaluation committee’s recommendations, the Board of Commissioners voted in February 2013 to deny initial accreditation to Washington Baptist Theological Seminary. The Board listed six areas of deficiency in the following ATS Commission standards as its reasons: evaluation and planning, library, faculty, finances, distance and extension education, and assessment of student learning in its degree programs. Though notified of that decision on February 20, 2013 and given 30 days to appeal, the school did not file an appeal. The final action to deny became official on March 30, 2013.
