Alice Hunt is the twelfth president in the 157-year history of Chicago Theological Seminary (CTS). Prior to CTS, she served as associate dean for academic affairs at Vanderbilt University Divinity School. Hunt was ordained at the historic Fifteenth Avenue Baptist Church, National Baptist Convention, in Nashville, Tennessee, and holds dual standing with the United Church of Christ in the Chicago Metropolitan Association. A Hebrew Bible scholar, her published work includes Missing Priests: The Zadokites in Tradition and History (2006), two edited volumes, Second Temple Studies IV: History and Historiography (2012), and Focusing Biblical Studies: The Crucial Nature of the Persian and Hellenistic Periods: Essays in Honor of Douglas A. Knight (2012), among others. Hunt serves on the Board of Commissioners for ATS, on the Finance Committee for the Society of Biblical Literature, and on the Audit Committee for the American Academy of Religion. She holds an MTS, an MA, and a PhD from Vanderbilt University.
