Lisa Kern was named manager of member engagement in 2019 to support the mission of The Association of Theological Schools (ATS) and the ATS Commission on Accrediting by leading creative efforts to effectively engage, inform, and support its member schools. She joined the staff in 2003 as communications coordinator to assist with publications, the website, and supporting communication about the programs and services offered to the ATS membership, and she now oversees the Association's new online engagement community, Engage ATS, as well. Kern strategizes with fellow staff members in their efforts to share resources and effectively reach their audiences, and with organizing opportunities to connect member schools with the Association and with one another. In addition, she writes, copyedits, and desktop publishes articles for the Association's online newsletter, handles social media outreach, produces published materials for ATS programs and leadership education events, and maintains certain areas of the Association's website and member database.
Before arriving at ATS, Kern worked as a staffing manager for The Creative Group and OfficeTeam divisions of Robert Half International, and as the marketing and public relations coordinator for the Pittsburgh Center for the Arts. She earned a BA in journalism/mass communication with minors in marketing and theater from St. Bonaventure University.
