• Project Title: Pastoral Formation Project
• Project Description: The Pastoral Formation Project at Gordon-Conwell seeks to address the challenges of pastor burnout, stagnation, and departure from the ministry, through a three-pronged approach that includes: (1) Integrating holistic five-fold formation—spiritual formation, character development, vocational discernment and missional outlook, emotional and mental health, and relationship-building and healthy cross-cultural engagement—across the classroom experience; (2) Cultivating deep relational groups for formation in the five areas, with faculty and alumni mentors, offering spiritually formative annual retreats; and (3) Developing resources for those needing additional formation or care in any of the five areas. Over the four years, the project will scale to serve our growing networked (online) pre- and current pastorate student population, preparing them to be mature shepherds, teachers, and pastors who build up the Church in the full stature of Christ (Ephesians 4:12-13).
