  • Project Description: Seminary Extended is a collaborative initiative among Union Presbyterian Seminary, Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary, and Eastern Mennonite University and Seminary, supported by the Lilly Endowment. The project strengthens local church leadership and theological education through three strategies: (1) A Seminary for Every Congregation—embedded leadership development training pastors and lay leaders directly within congregational contexts; (2) Shared Faculty and Courses—specialized faculty positions and cross-institutional course sharing that leverage expertise across all three seminaries while expanding educational offerings; (3) Joint Doctor of Ministry in Adaptive Leadership—collaborative doctoral education equipping ministry leaders for contemporary challenges. Seminary Extended serves a broad ecumenical landscape, creating pathways for ministerial formation rooted in local contexts and enriched by multi-institutional partnership.
