Overview
By invitation; Thirty years ago, a small group of women dared to imagine that leadership in theological education could look different, and that no woman called to this work should have to find her way alone. The ATS Women in Leadership (WIL) Initiative grew from that conviction. Through good times and bad, WIL has flourished because of women like you, who said yes to walking alongside others as mentors, companions, and truth-tellers.
As we mark the 30th anniversary of the initiative, we invite women leaders who aspire to grow in their leadership capacities in the Church or the academy, to gather for an intergenerational gathering to reflect on the theme, The Good, the Bad, and the Glorious of Women's Leadership. There will be an optional pre-conference reception on the evening of Sunday, February 28.
We welcome the diverse and intergenerational community of women leaders in ATS schools who have gathered throughout the course of 30 years, and those who wish to join this community for the first time, to gather, explore, assess, grow, and commit to becoming the best version of ourself, in service to the Church, the academy, and to one another.
The gathering will follow a Restorative Justice Circle Keeping model, moving participants through four stages: 1. Identity and core values, 2. Redefining the beloved community and asking, "What is happening here?" 3. Exploring larger pertinent issues or concerns, and 4. Developing a relational covenant network as a plan for a way forward. Each day will begin with intentional silent time and space for prayer, remembering, reflecting, and/or walking. Following a preconference reception on the evening of February 28, the full conference will begin on March 1 with brunch, a keynote address, time for large-group interaction, small-group engagement, and dynamic workshops. We will conclude by midday March 3.
