The School for New Deans is structured around a three-part agenda. The first three sessions (Monday afternoon and Tuesday morning) are designed to give participants a broad overview of The Association of Theological Schools, the vocation of the academic dean, and the dean’s broad role within the theological school. The next three sessions present some of the “tools” needed by the academic dean, facility in financial matters, leadership in the processes of accreditation, and facilitation of the faculty’s role in the assessment of student learning and institutional effectiveness. The final two sessions focus on the primary constituencies served by the dean, faculty, and students. The School begins with a welcome reception at 2:30 p.m., Monday, December 10, at the ATS office and concludes with lunch at noon on Wednesday, December 12.
